Service 2 HVAC was appointed by Eddisons to deliver a comprehensive heating plant replacement project at Heartlands School in response to significant reliability and redundancy concerns associated with the existing system. The school had been operating from a single boiler plant approaching 20 years of age, which had become increasingly inefficient, costly to maintain, and posed a substantial risk to the continuity of heating provision across the site.

To provide a resilient and energy-efficient solution capable of meeting the school’s heating demands, Service 2 HVAC designed and installed a new plant room incorporating eight 150kW Evomax boilers, two DAB circulation pumps, and an Ideal plate heat exchanger (PHX). The new arrangement was designed to maximise system reliability through full operational redundancy while improving overall plant efficiency.

As part of the wider refurbishment works, the project also included a complete Building Management System (BMS) upgrade and a full plant room modernisation. These enhancements have provided improved system control, monitoring capabilities, and energy performance, ensuring the heating infrastructure can be managed effectively and efficiently.

The completed installation has delivered a modern, high-performance heating solution that significantly enhances reliability, operational resilience, and energy efficiency. Heartlands School now benefits from a fully redundant heating system that provides long-term security, reduced operational risk, and a dependable, cost-effective source of heating for years to come.
